27 years old, breast cancer, on Goserelin—what happens?

First of all: nothing “terrible” will happen!! Stay positive, adjust actively, and when you feel uncomfortable, just go for some exercise.
My personal experience is that after the 2nd injection I started having hot flashes, and after the 3rd injection my sleep quality was sometimes not great and my mood became more irritable. Exercise or traveling helps a lot.
Hot flashes: this symptom started after my 2nd injection. Whenever the temperature is above 25°C, I feel like I’m constantly overheated. Before a hot flash, my body gives me a warning signal 🔔—like an allergic reaction to peach fuzz: full-body itching and irritability. About 3–5 minutes later, the hot flash starts and my clothes can get soaked immediately. It can also happen when I’m in a bad mood, with no warning—sudden heavy sweating.
Sleep: before I got sick, I could sleep like I was “knocked out” 😪. After the 3rd injection, sometimes I have vivid dreams and slightly poorer sleep quality 💤, but it’s not frequent. When my activity level is good, I sleep well at night, so I don’t overthink it.
Irritability 😫: my temper has become more explosive and I get angry more easily, sometimes with chest discomfort. I’ve always been a bit hot-tempered 😡 with a strong “liver fire” 🔥—I could get triggered by small things and explode. After treatment, it feels even easier to get irritated. This is just my personal feeling and also feedback from friends 😂. I’m the type that feels worse if I don’t let it out, so I have to release it. After breast cancer, I became even less willing to “keep peace on the surface.” Now it’s basically: if I’m unhappy, I act on it. Sisters, don’t follow my example—this is actually not good for the body. Try to stay calm. I’m still learning too. Let’s all keep going together.
What helps: I usually exercise—walking 5 km 🏃‍♀️ (I can walk 2–4 km even with a drainage bag), swimming 🏊, playing badminton 🏸. Exercise significantly reduces hot flashes and irritability for me, I can clearly feel it, so I keep doing it. When I’m tired from exercise, I naturally sleep better at night. Another thing is traveling—going with like-minded friends, otherwise it can feel even harder. I hope everyone finds what works for them.
My OFS treatment plan: I started Goserelin before chemo. I did not freeze eggs and I don’t want children. First 3.6 mg every 3 weeks. You can’t jump directly to 10.8 mg every 12 weeks right away—the body may not tolerate it. I did two 4-week injections first, then switched to the 12-week dose. Plan is currently 5 years.
My 4th injection was self-administered—inserted and removed by myself smoothly. No pain anymore, basically numb to it now. Maybe it’s because I have more abdominal fat, and my body helped me this time.
These are just my personal experiences—everyone reacts differently, for reference only. If you feel unwell, please communicate with your doctor and find what works best for you!
