First-Time Property Buyer in Cyprus

I’m considering buying my first property in Cyprus and would appreciate some advice from people who have already gone through the process.
At the moment I’m mainly looking at Limassol and using a few different property websites to get an idea of prices and available areas. MySpace Cyprus has quite a few listings, so I’ve added it to the sites I’m comparing.
For someone buying for the first time, what would you say are the most important things to check before arranging viewings or making an offer?
