My car broke down at midnight, is there anywhere that can help this late?
I'm writing this from the side of the road and honestly I'm in a bit of a panic right now because my car just completely died on me while I was driving home from a late shift at work. I was cruising along and suddenly the engine just cut out, no warning lights, no weird noises beforehand, just dead. I managed to coast to the shoulder but now I'm stuck here in the dark with a car that won't start and no idea what to do at this hour. I've tried calling a few numbers I found online but most places are closed or not answering at this time, which I guess is understandable but doesn't really help my situation. I'm not even sure if it's something simple like a dead battery or something more serious, but right now I just need to get the car somewhere safe and figure out a way to get home. I'm hoping there's somewhere that operates late or even 24 hours that can at least come out and take a look or tow the car somewhere secure until the morning. I've been trying to search for a 24/7 auto service in Abu Dhabi but I'm getting mixed results and I don't want to call some random number that ends up being a scam or charging me a fortune just to show up. Has anyone here ever had to deal with a breakdown late at night and found a reliable service that actually answers the phone? I really need some advice right now because I'm feeling pretty stranded and stressed out.
First thing, get hazards on and stand well away from the car if you're on a fast road. Your insurance or bank card might include roadside assistance, and a lot of people forget that. Check the back of your policy or app, they usually answer around the clock.
Be careful with random numbers you find online at midnight, that's exactly when the overpriced tow scams show up. Ask for a fixed price before they dispatch anything and get a plate number for the truck. If they won't quote over the phone, hang up and try the next one.
